Welcome to Kehilat B’nai Shalom!
Shalom, and welcome to Kehilat B’nai Shalom (קהלת בני שלום), a Torah observant Messianic Jewish Congregation meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas. We invite you to join our congregation family in worship every Friday and Saturday!
Kehilat B’nai Shalom (קהלת בני שלום) translates to the Assembly of the Children of Shalom. Shalom around the world is understood to mean peace, but peace is only one small part of the meaning of the word. The root meaning of the verb Shalom is to be complete, perfect and full. The New King James version has a word study for shalom which says: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Think about it, if you have all of this, then what would you call it? Shalom! We are Children of the One True God who gives true Shalom.

Our Services:
Friday Evening
- 7pm: Minchah (afternoon prayers)
- 7:30pm: Our Erev Shabbat Service follows a traditional Messianic Jewish liturgy (see the article, Siddur). We read in English and sing in Hebrew. We also worship with Davidic Dance and a weekly message. Every third Friday (except dates noted below), we celebrate Erev Shabbat “family style” . . . just as families would celebrate in their home.
- 9:30pm: Kiddush & Oneg after the service. Kiddush is a Hebrew word that translates as “sanctification”. We agree with God that the 7th day is the day He set aside as THE DAY of rest. We have two loaves of bread to represent the double portion of manna (Exod 16:29) and we have fruit of the vine (wine or grape juice, if you prefer). We break bread, eat bread and drink the fruit of the vine. Oneg means “delight of” and directly references our gathering to meet with God on the day He set aside…the Sabbath Day. So, Oneg is the delight of Shabbat for God’s people. Oneg is a time for friendship, fellowship, questions and answers while sharing a potluck meal (Acts 2:44–47). Thank you for attending our worship services and you are welcome to join our Delight of Shabbat. If you would like to bring food for Oneg, please understand our standard of acceptable foods is found in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. These are the foods that God said are good enough for His people to eat. He loves us so much and only wants the best for us!
Saturday Afternoon
- 2pm: Torah Service - Liturgy and study of this week’s portions of Torah, Haftarah and the Apostolic Scriptures. We read and discuss the week’s scripture readings, seeking to find deeper meaning and truths in addition to looking for Messiah in all of them. Be sure to bring your favorite Bible, concordance, lexicon, commentaries and/or laptop computer. Be ready for a “round-table” type discussion of the Scriptures with great fellowship. Tuesday Evening
- 7:30pm: Davidic Dance Class (2nd Samuel 6:12–15)
